Style and timing are everything. I’m excited to have partnered with GQ and Seiko Watch in their #GQxSeikoStyleOff Challenge. I love this collaboration because it’s such a great opportunity to showcase how important a beautiful timepiece can truly elevate your style.
The Seiko timepiece I’m wearing is a classic staple for any suit and formal wear. It’s the Prospex World Time and is quite the powerhouse on my wrist. It’s solar-powered, so there are no battery changes that are ever required. Half of the watches I own are sitting in my catch-all drawer are not broken, but just need a new battery, so I love this watch’s feature. It’s a worldly clock, and a globetrotter’s godsend as it’s able to hold up to 25-city world time function.
My blazer is an unstructured blazer from Hackett London – one of my favorite suiting shops. It’s lightweight and great for traveling as it doesn’t wrinkle too badly. The forest green is different from most formalwear I currently have in my closet, which I love. I’m always trying to diversify and keep my closet consistent at the same time. The blue windowpanes makes the blazer great to match with a blue (chambray) tie or navy slacks. It makes the jacket super versatile, and since it is a bit darker you can wear it well into the fall – and possibly winter – months.
One of the craziest functions of the Prospex World Time watch is it’s power reserve indicator – it can last up to 6 months with it’s power reserve when it’s fully charged. Try going with a week of power with your Apple Watch! The watch looks damn good with a crips white button down and a leather or canvas briefcase in hand. The Zip Brief I’m sporting is from San Francisco-based JOSHU+VELA, and they create some beautiful bags and briefcases.
Do you enjoy a more formal look like this from me? My style is generally a mix of casual/prep/urban, but I love class-ing it up and wearing a suit – so stay tuned as there might be more looks like this in the future!
